Jersey, England

In October 2009 I travelled to Jersey Island to cover the Branchage Film Festival. It was a small, exciting affair, just in its second year running, and the whole island had opened its doors for the ‘saison de film’: Jersey Museum showed ‘Big River Man’, a spectacular documentary about Martin Strel, a four-time world-record holder in endurance swimming who swims the length of the Amazon River, while British Sea Power performed a live soundtrack to the 1930′s cult classic Man of Aran in Jersey’s Opera House.

As spectacular as the films were, it was Jersey’s war tunnels (also known as the Underground Hospital, a vestige of Jersey’s occupation by Germany during WWII), dark turquoise waters, French-inspired chateaux and windswept hills that inspired me. These are some shots taken with my Leica.
